Mutitu is one of the oldest washing stations in Kenya, built in 1957 and going stronger than ever today with over 750 farmers delivering coffee cherries there as part of the Rugi Farmers’ Cooperative Society. This traditionally processed fully washed lot was grown by smallholders in Mukurweini, Nyeri, a region of Central Kenya, where farmers grow mostly the famous Kenyan varieties SL28 and SL34 like this lot.
Look for sweet, mellow notes of melon, stewed prunes and syrupy, sweet molasses.
